The full exploitation of the ESRF-EBS poses new long-term sustainability challenges arising from the exploitation of its unprecedented X-ray beams. The ESRF runs an extensive public user programme, allowing scientists from all over the world to access its 30 publicly funded beamlines and part of its 13 private beamlines. With the ESRF-EBS upgrade more users, more samples and more data through faster and new experiments are expected, and the ESRF has to adapt its procedures to this new context. Furthermore new services can be created.

The ESRF User Office ensures the efficient and smooth running of this external user programme. Within the STREAMLINE project, the User Office is leading a work package that will update user tools, administrative procedures and access routes to permit a higher throughput of users, experiments and samples in the light of the EBS.
