You will participate in the operation of the beamline, ongoing in-house research programmes, provide support to external users as local contact, and develop your own research programme.
ID13 offers the unique opportunity to combine cutting-the-edge scanning micro-/nano-beam diffraction/scattering methods with sub-millisecond time resolution using highly efficient pixel array detectors. With the considerable gain in performance due to the recently upgraded X-ray source (ESRF EBS), it is ideally suited for in-vivo/operando experiments and 3D techniques (SAXS/WAXS tensor tomography). The coherence of X-ray nano-beams can also be exploited for ptychography and similar applications. The current research programme is covering a wide range of materials such as bio-materials, biological cells, polymers, nano-particles, materials for sustainable energy generation and storage. In particular, you will join in the effort of the group to upgrade the performance of the experimental end-stations and to implement new experimental techniques. You will be encouraged to develop your own research projects, which should exploit and further develop the beamline’s distinctive capabilities.
