Internship Microsoft infrastructure Audit

Context & Job description

The team

We propose you to join the Information Technology Services Group which provides the computing resources and services to support the ESRF in its scientific missions.

The Group's duties include users support, definition, procurement, implementation and operation of technical solutions for all centralised computing resources including the data communication network, systems, data storage and backup. The main challenge of the group is to deal with a massive data flow and large data storage, while ensuring a very high level of availability and IT-security for the facility.

 

Your mission

We are looking for a passionate and enthusiastic trainee to collaborate on the audit of our Microsoft infrastructure.

You will work within the Microsoft team in order to conduct, in coordination with a system engineer, a security audit of the ESRF Microsoft infrastructure

You will be responsible for:

- carrying out a preliminary study by consolidating the State of the Art in terms of Microsoft infrastructure

- conducting an audit of all Microsoft products (Active Directory, Accounts, Servers, Server Applications, Client workstations, Client Applications)

- carrying out different levels of tests: intrusions / cryptographic attack / Deny of Service / destruction / disaster recovery

- proposing corrective evolutions

- synthesising all the elements identified in the form of a report

 

Expected profile

  • You are a student in your last year of engineering school or university with a specialisation in Computer science (IT)
  • You have a good mastery of System Administration. Knowledge of the Microsoft environment is a plus.
  • You are very curious
  • You are autonomous in your organisation and rigorous in your analysis and communication
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills in English (English is indeed our working language at ESRF).
  • You ideally have some initial international experience

The internship will take place in the IT Services Group, supervised by Bertrand Dupré (bdupre@esrf.fr) et Amandine Blachot (amandine.blachot@esrf.fr). The envisaged duration of the internship is 6 months. The dates can be adapted according to the calendar requested by the school/university. Working conditions

As a trainee, you will receive indemnities which depend on your educational level (5.69€/hour in 2022 which in average resulted in 830€/month).

We offer a trainees indemnities package designed to support your quality of life and your installation in the Grenoble area.

If your school is far from Grenoble, the ESRF can facilitate your housing with a dedicated accommodation allowance (around 300€/month). The ESRF will also provide you with the main housing contacts to find an accommodation.

The ESRF participates in the common restaurant costs.
