PhD Thesis Student (m/f) - Subject: Electronic and Magnetic properties of van der Waals materials

Context & Job description

You will join ID32 team and to study the Electronic and Magnetic properties of van der Waals materials. ID32 is a soft X-ray beamline (400-1600eV) with a scientific focus in the areas of electronic structure and magnetism. The beamline has two branches; one has been optimized for experiments using very high energy resolution soft X-ray resonant inelastic X-ray scattering (RIXS), with a state-of-the-art spectrometer and the other branch for soft X-ray absorption dichroism studies (e.g. X-ray Magnetic Circular dichroism (XMCD)) with a 9T superconducting high field magnet and surface science sample preparation facilities.
