Alignment Technician

Context & Job description

The Technical Infrastructure Division provides services to all  ESRF Divisions including survey and alignment services. As part of the Survey & Alignment Group you will join a team of technicians and engineers responsible for the alignment of the ESRF accelerators and beamlines.

Your missions will be the following: 

·         Installation, maintenance, alignment, and measurement (planimetric and altimetric control) of the following assemblies:

o civil engineering works,

o first order geodetic networks,

o magnets, vacuum vessels and other accelerator equipment, and

o beamline reference marks, instrumentation and equipment.

·         Collaborate with and provide support to external company survey teams.

·         Perform survey calculations and record results of measurement and alignment activities.

Expected profile

  • You should hold a technician degree (BSc, Licence, HND, HNC, BTS, DUT, Bachelor, Meister, Vordiplom, Perito, Laurea Triennale, Diplomatura, Ingenieria Técnica or equivalent) in geomatics (surveying), or dimensional metrology
  • A minimum of 3 years of professional experience
  • Ideally, you should have experience in precision alignment and be acquainted with the tools (e.g. electronic levels, GNSS, robotic total stations and laser trackers ...), skills and techniques used in the fields of metrology and micro-geodesy
  • You possess advanced proficiency in MS Word and Excel for data processing and presentation of results
  • Experience in 3D scanning and the use of Polyworks or equivalent software would be appreciated
  • Knowledge of the software application Spatial Analyzer is an asset.
  • English proficiency (working language at the ESRF)

Working conditions

Permanent contract.

The salary will be calculated on the basis of relevant qualifications and professional experience.
