Context & Job description

Subject: Oxidation and fluorination reactions at high pressure and temperature

You will join Prof. Ulrich Häussermann (Stockholm) and Dr. Wilson Crichton (ESRF), to synthesise solid-state compounds with higher oxidations states through oxidation and fluorination reactions at high pressure and temperature.

The beamline ID06-Large Volume Press’s mission is to study the synthesis, phase diagrams, transitions and physical properties of materials at high pressure and temperature by X-ray diffraction, often coupled with ancillary techniques.

Further information may be obtained from Wilson Crichton (tel.: +33 (0)4 76 88 22 69, email: crichton@esrf.fr), or Ulrich Häussermann (+46(0)8 16 23 90, email: Ulrich.haussermann@mmk.su.se).

Expected profile

  • Degree allowing enrolment for a PhD (such as MSc, Master 2 de Recherche, Laurea or equivalent) in chemistry, physics, materials science, geosciences or closely related science
  • A background in solid-state chemistry, high pressure synthesis or X-ray diffraction is desirable
  • Proficiency in English (working language at the ESRF)

Working conditions
