Context & Job description

NEXTSTEP is a doctoral training programme bringing together complementary analytical X-ray, neutron and electron microscopy techniques available at the cutting-edge European Research Infrastructures (RIs) ESRF, ILL, and e-DREAM. Supported by a Horizon Europe MSCA COFUND Programme, 36 PhD students will exploit the unique and transversal capabilities of these RIs in tackling the challenges associated with sustainable development and industrial competitiveness in the areas of “Health”, “Digital, Industry & Space”, “Climate, Energy and Mobility” and “Food, Bioeconomy, Natural Resources, Agriculture and Environment”. The duration of the project is 60 months and will comprise two calls one year apart (in February 2025 and February 2026), each recruiting 18 PhD students.

In the frame of this project, and under the supervision of the ESRF Head of Recruitment & Careers management service, you will coordinate the NEXTSTEP recruitment calls and be responsible for the recruitment and on boarding process of the 15 PhD students to be recruited at the ESRF.

As such, your main responsibilities will be as follows:

  • Recruitment: publication of the calls, practical advice and information for applicants, eligibility check, organisation and carrying out the interview process (by video conferencing plus on site if needed), final selection of the candidates, notification of results, redress procedure
  • On boarding: assistance to integration of new PhD students
  • Support the training programme implementation

Expected profile

  • Higher university degree (Master or equivalent 300 ECTS diploma) in Human resources or equivalent
  • 2 to 4 years of professional experience, including a minimum of 2 years’ experience in a similar recruitment function
  • Team spirit, structure, listening and communication skills
  • Proficiency in English (working language at the ESRF) and good knowledge of French

Working conditions

Fixed-term contract of 18 months.

The salary will be calculated on the basis of relevant qualifications and professional experience.
