Technician in Instrumentation & Detector Production

Context & Job description

The Detector & Electronics Group in the Instrumentation Services and Development Division provides development and support capabilities in the fields of X-ray detectors and control electronics required for experimental stations and the accelerator complex. 

As a member of a support team inside the Detector Unit you will be in charge of the production of SMARTPIX X-ray detectors by assembling and testing components and systems. Your missions will be the following:

  • Assemble mechanical components, integrate electrical and electronic parts, and install hardware in appropriate housing
  • Perform diagnostic tests and metrology of assembled goods
  • Electrical and functional characterization of detectors in laboratory
  • Provide technical support and feedback to project manager and subcontractors.

Expected profile

  • You should hold a Technical Diploma (Bac professionnel, Bac Technologique, BTS, DUT…) in the field of mechanics, electronics, electrotechnics, technology or equivalent
  • At least two years of practical experience in assembling and testing mechanical and electronic components and assemblies
  • Good general understanding of electromechanical assemblies
  • Excellent eye-hand coordination for assembling small and /or delicate components into a final detector
  • Ability to interact with multi-disciplinary staff and facility users
  • Aptitude for team work and independently
  • Well-organized, meticulous and methodical approach to the work
  • Proficiency in English (working language at the ESRF).

Working conditions

The salary will be calculated on the basis of relevant qualifications and professional experience.
