BeamLine Operation Manager (BLOM) on ID24-DCM and BM23

Context & Job description

You will be strongly involved in the instrumental developments and maintenance of the beamlines BM23 and ID24-DCM. You will participate in ongoing in-house research programmes, the operation of the beamline, and provide support to external users as local contact.

BM23 and ID24-DCM are two ESRF beamlines dedicated to the X-ray Absorption Spectroscopy (XAS). BM23 is a multi-purpose energy scanning XAS beamline installed on a two-pole wiggler and ID24-DCM is an undulator beamline with two branches: an energy dispersive branch (ID24-ED) and a scanning branch (ID24-DCM). The beamlines cover a wide range of applications in chemistry, solid-state physics, materials science, biology, environmental science, geochemistry, geophysics and planetology.

The successful candidate will play a major role in the running and further development of the BM23 and ID24-DCM beamlines. User support will be a key activity which will provide much opportunity for collaborative work at the frontiers of the field. Beamtime will be set aside for in-house research and the beamline operation manager will be given the opportunity to participate in the beamlines research programme in close collaboration with the beamline team.
