IT Network Technician / Optical Fiber Works Supervisor (F/M)

Context & Job description

The IT Services group plays a pivotal role in the scientific missions of the ESRF, providing computing resources and services. Join our IT team and play a key role in the daily operations of our expansive and intricate data communication network, which boasts approximately 700 switches, enabling 45 000 ports that connect over 10 000 network nodes. 

We are currently recruiting an Optical Fiber Works Supervisor specialising in the deployment of FTTO (Fiber To The Office) and overall Campus LAN. The selected candidate will be responsible for coordinating and managing optical fiber deployment projects, ensuring quality, safety, and timely completion.

Your main responsibilities:

  • Contribute to the evolution and optimisation of the network infrastructure.
  • Organise and follow-up fiber and copper cabling works scheduling with cabling subcontractors.
  • Ensure compliance with quality and safety standards.
  • Monitor and maintain wired and wireless network infrastructure in operation.
  • Perform continuous watching on technological trends.
  • Participate in troubleshooting and problem resolution.

Expected profile

  • Technical degree in Computer science or Network technology (BSc, Licence, HND, HNC, BTS, DUT, Bachelor, Meister, Vordiplom, Perito, Laurea Triennale, Diplomatura, lngenieria Tecnica ) or equivalent, with at least 120 ECTS credits.
  • At least 2 years' experience in a similar role.
  • Strong knowledge of networks, including switches, routers, and security.
  • Cisco or Extreme Networks certifications will be an asset.
  • Proficiency in Linux, open-source tools, scripting languages, and web development.

Working conditions

The salary will be calculated on the basis of relevant qualifications and professional experience.
