Electronics Technician

Are you passionate about hands-on electronics and want your work to make a real impact in cutting-edge scientific research?

The Electronics Unit of the Detector & Electronics Group plays an important role in supporting technical developments at the ESRF. We support the facility’s experimental stations and accelerator complex by designing, installing, and maintaining the electronics that make advanced science possible. Our work ranges from deploying high-performance commercial systems to developing custom-made solutions for unique challenges.

We’re looking for a practical, proactive, and curious Electronics Technician who enjoys solving problems and working in a collaborative environment. 

As part of a team of passionate engineers and technicians, you will:

  • Install, maintain, and optimise control, synchronisation, and data acquisition systems.
  • Troubleshoot and repair complex electronic instrumentation to ensure consistent performance.
  • Keep our labs running smoothly by maintaining tools, test benches, and equipment.
  • Contribute to development projects, including integration of commercial systems, and design and testing of electronic boards. 

Expected profile

  • Educational background: Technician-level degree (BSc, BTS, DUT, HND, Licence Pro, or equivalent) in electronics.
  • Hands-on experience with: oscilloscopes, multimeters, power supplies, function generators, circuit testing, and diagnostics.
  • Team spirit: You enjoy sharing knowledge, working in a multidisciplinary environment, and helping others.
  • Organised & independent: Able to manage your time, prioritise tasks, and work autonomously. 
  • Language: Proficiency in English (working language at ESRF).

Working conditions

The salary will be calculated on the basis of relevant qualifications and professional experience.
