Group Head for the Power Supply Group

Context & Job description

The Power Supply Group (PSG) is composed of a group head, three engineers, and four technicians. It is responsible for the designing, construction follow-up, testing, installation, commissioning, and upgrading of the accelerator power supplies. The group also contributes to the development of the Accelerator and Source Division (ASD) and ensures maintenance and repairs for the power supplies.

As Group Head of PSG, you will report to the ASD Director and your main duties and responsibilities will include:

  • Managing the PSG group and supervising its members
  • Overseeing the PSG budget and ensuring its implementation
  • Analyzing the power quality and electrical conversion efficiency for the EBS accelerators
  • Managing and coordinating the design, maintenance, procurement, testing, and installation of power supply equipment
  • Identifying and managing the refurbishment and upgrade of power supplies
  • Writing documentation
  • Participating in all Power Supply group standby and callable activities, ensuring the continuous operation of the facility

Part of your work may require shift work, following ESRF regulations.

Expected profile

Education

  • University degree (Master or equivalent, 300 ECTS) in electrical engineering or a discipline related to accelerator engineering

Technical skills

  • At least 10 years of professional experience in electrical engineering
  • Knowledge and capability on follow-up and upgrade of the ELTA Solid State Amplifies AC/DC converters. 
  • Professional expertise in servo-control and signal processing
  • Strong skills in electronics, power generation, power distribution, automation, and energy conversion

Non-technical skills

  • Experience in management: planning, organizing, communicating, analyzing, problem-solving, leadership, initiative-taking
  • Project management skills will be an asset
  • Strong ability to work in a team and excellent communication skills
  • Proficiency in English (working language at the ESRF)

 

Working conditions

The salary will be calculated on the basis of relevant qualifications and professional experience.
