Within this group, the HVAC team manages numerous handling units, chillers, and nitrogen networks. The team works closely with users to specify, design, install, operate, and maintain HVAC and fluid equipment. As ESRF experiments analyze samples at the sub-micrometric scale, precise control of air humidity and temperature is critical.

We are seeking a skilled HVAC Automation Technician to design, develop, and operate hardware and software for control systems, as well as to manage servers and monitoring applications for air handling, fluids, and electricity.

Key Responsibilities

  • Oversee studies, expansions, and maintenance of PLC installations, networks, communication gateways, and field instrumentation for HVAC and fluid equipment.
  • Monitor key parameters (temperature, flow, pressure) to regulate HVAC and fluid systems.
  • Program PLCs and hardware to enhance control and optimize HVAC and fluid operations.
  • Test, diagnose, and troubleshoot instrumentation equipment.
  • Track and document interventions by maintenance team automation specialists and external contractors.

This role is ideal for a proactive professional with a passion for control systems and a commitment to maintaining high-performance infrastructure.

Expected profile

Education & Qualifications

  • Technician degree in Automation, HVAC, or related field (BTS, DUT, Licence Pro, Bachelor, or equivalent).

Technical Skills

  • 10+ years of experience in PLC-based systems, preferably for fluid and air treatment processes.
  • Experience in operating and maintaining technical installations.
  • Proficiency in Rockwell PLCs and FTView supervision systems (preferred).
  • Knowledge of Historian and Vantage Point, as well as network communication systems.
  • Familiarity with fluid and air treatment equipment, including instrumentation.

Non-Technical Skills

  • Fluency in French and professional English (working language at the ESRF).
  • Strong teamwork and integration skills within multidisciplinary groups.
  • Electrical expertise and ability to manage subcontractors.

Working conditions

Permanent contract.

The salary will be calculated on the basis of relevant qualifications and professional experience.
