Accounting assistant specializing in fiscal matters (F/M)

Context & Job description

Within the Finance Service and under the supervision of the Head of General accounting unit, you will be in charge of diverse accounting tasks, in particular: 

  • Responsible for the monthly fiscal declarations to the proper authorities (VAT, DEB, DES), and other compulsory annual declarations (DAS2, …)
  • Reconciliation work between the general accounting and the budget expenditure and income.
  • Integration of the payroll in the accounting system, involvement in the analysis of payroll accounts, and reconciliation payroll/accounting.
  • Involvement in the analysis of accounts and elaboration of the annual accounts.
  • Follow up, analysis and reporting to management about modifications in the regulations governing VAT handling, in liaison with the local fiscal authorities.
  • Assignment of the treasury transactions in the accounts and for all other accounting tasks.
  • Validation of legal conformity of purchase invoices (2 000 to 6 000 euros).

Expected profile

  • Educational Background: 2/3-year post-secondary degree in accounting (BTS, HNC, Bachelor, or equivalent diploma worth 120 ECTS to 180 ECTS), ideally supplemented by additional training or practical experience in fiscal law and budget management practices.
  • Professional Experience: Solid technical experience in accounting, with proven ability to apply accounting principles and practices effectively in a professional setting.
  • Technical Skills: Strong proficiency in Microsoft Excel; comfortable working with advanced functions, formulas, and data analysis tools. 
  • Personal Qualities: Highly organised, detail-oriented, and capable of managing multiple priorities. Able to consistently meet deadlines while ensuring compliance with accounting standards and fiscal regulations.
  • Good command of English and French languages, both written and spoken (English is the working language at the ESRF).

Working conditions

The salary will be calculated on the basis of relevant qualifications and professional experience.
